… are struggling with symptoms of anxiety or depression, or both.
That Control You
Why Narratives?
In therapy, I believe that change begins with our narratives. I use a number of therapeutic modalities, including relational, psychodynamic, and person-centered approaches. The narratives we share about our lives are extremely powerful and telling. Not just the content of these stories, but the ways in which we tell them.
You...

… have experienced trauma and are ready to begin working toward post-traumatic growth.

… lack confidence or feel that you have lost your worth.

… feel blamed for problems that seem out of your control.

… have experienced or are experiencing overwhelming stress or change in your life, and want to develop skills to help you de-center, be kinder to yourself, and slow down.

… grew up in a family where emotions were forbidden, and need a safe space to confront those trapped, paralyzed (or paralyzing) emotions.

… grew up in a family where feelings were strewn about in a frenzied mess, or used against one another, and need a space to make sense of these lingering feelings.

… have been described as an empath or overly emotional, and need help discovering and practicing how to regulate difficult feelings.

safe environment for you to determine and achieve your goals.

About me

Narratives
Hanna Badalova, LCSW-C
Welcome. I’m Hanna Badalova, a Baltimore-based psychotherapist who treats individuals, couples, and families. I specialize in treating adjustment and trauma-related disorders, mood disorders, and anxiety, particularly in adolescents and young adults. I received a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland, specializing in clinical psychotherapy, and have a range of experience working in schools, hospitals, a women’s shelter, the juvenile justice department, and a community mental health center.
My experiences as a musician and writer — I received my undergraduate degree in English Literature and creative writing from Goucher College — shape both my training as a therapist and the way I work with my clients today.
If you are cynical about therapy, but feel compelled to try it (or try it again), I would be honored to take part in your healing, or be a part of your corrective experience. Please take a look around, and don’t hesitate to reach out via email or by phone for a free consultation.
Services
From childhood, people are drawn to reading and listening to stories, and as we grow we seek out new stories and begin to tell our own. Oftentimes, we relive these same tales, knowingly and unknowingly, rather than beginning new ones. Every story is both unique and universal in some way; I want to help my clients gain insight as they decide what they want to keep, change, and let go from their narratives.

Understanding Pain Through Art
If you are the artistic, empathic or sensitive type, art can be profound in your healing process.

Individual Therapy
In individual therapy I will challenge you to look at your life stories in a variety of ways.

Family Therapy
I assess family roles and expectations. I encourage open discussion and vulnerability among all family members involved.

Couples Therapy
I provide a nonjudgmental, comfortable atmosphere for couples to disclose intimate issues and work through problems in their relationships.

Please contact me if you’re ready to begin.
